A Dangerous Hole

A farmer, names Andrew Ball, from Center Township, drove into the slough at the foot of Third Street yesterday afternoon to water his horse; and they got beyond their depth in a hole, and team and Mr. Ball had a very narrow escape from drowning, and but for assistance from parties who saw them we would be writing an item of a more serious nature then this. For eight or nine feet after striking the water the bed is level and the increase in depth is very gradual and then there is a sudden lack of bottom, a cutting down of six or seven feet, so that the place is a very dangerous one, and ought to be filled up, or parties should be warned from driving in there to water.
