Wedding of Miss Ada M. Beebe and
W. Vinton, Esq.That was a happy party that assembled at the residence of Mr. S. J. Lovewell, on Fourteenth Street, at the early hour of seven o’clock yesterday morning – a party of thirty-five or forty of the immediate friends of the parties chief in interest-assembled to witness the ceremony which made Wilfred Vinton, Esq., of Meriden, Minn. and Miss Ada M., daughter of W. W. Beebe, Esq., of this city, husband and wife. The house was tastefully decorated for the occasion with evergreens and flowers. Rev. Dr. Bingham, of the First Congregational Church, was the officiating clergyman, performing the ceremony in the most impressive manner. After the ceremony came the congratulations, heartfelt and sincere, from all assembled. Many a Dubuque girl has been taken away from our city as a prize from young men from other states, but none more worthy; none possesses of more friends, among those by whom she is best known; and none more true, more respected for the moral attributes of womanhood she possessed, has ever been won by fortunate lover from among out Dubuque girls.
The fortunate bridegroom is to be congratulated upon his choice, and he has won favor with Dubuquers for the good judgement he displayed in selecting such a lady for his bride. The bridegroom is worthy of his bride; is a man of sterling character, possessing the highest esteem of those by whom he is best known, and a successful man. Both have done well and there is no alloy in the gladness of the glad hour which united their fortunes. The friends of the bridal pair, and they are numbered by the hundreds among our best citizens, were very liberal in the ways of presents. From the table in the sitting room they were displayed, representing nearly everything in the line of silver and gold, and many of the presents were of a costly character. Among the presents was a beautiful, elegantly bound quarto bible, from Superintendent Chamberlain and the teachers of the Congregational Sunday School, of which Ada was a teacher, and Mrs. Lovewell’s present was a beautiful and costly oil painting representing the “Sunset in the Rocky Mountains.” We omit a further list of presents. The refreshments were very fine.
The TIMES adds its congratulations with the rest. May their married life always be happy as the June morning of their marriage day was bright and beautiful. The bridal pair left on the evening C.D. & M. for their future home.
