Dubuque Daily Times, Thursday, April 25, 1876, Dubuque, Iowa, Page: 7

Jane Spielman, and her father-in-law, Jacob Spielman, are not on the most harmonious footing. He had her arrested for threatening to do him great bodily injury, which threats the Justice could not see, and discharged her. She made a counter charge against him for throwing a stick of wood at her, which constituted an assault, and might, if properly aimed, been a bat her eye. They, however, talked matters over before a trial was called, and concluded to live in peace. The Justice permitted them to depart with that understanding and holds the law in terrerem over their heads for 30 days.
