DESTRUCTIVE RUNAWAY. – A frightful runaway occurred through Main Street yesterday forenoon that scattered destruction in its path. Mr. Cox, of Prairie Creek, appeared in the market with a load of grain and a spirited team of horses. In an unguarded moment they became frightened and started up town knocking wheel from wagons as though they were made of glass. The team started from James Mulligan’s store colliding with his wagon. In making the turn on the corner of First Street the wagon capsized. On the fiery coursers sped, demolishing Jaeger’s buggy, Zollicoffer’s wagon and numerous other vehicles and brought up at the corner of Main and 17th Street. One of the horses is seriously injured and probably crippled for life. Mr. Cox has made arrangements to pay all damages for repairs and regrets the disastrous consequences of the runaway team.
