ANOTHER COMPANY-
A splendid corps of one hundred men arrived Wednesday from Maquoketa, Jackson county, under the command of Captain A. W. Drips, editor of the Maquoketa Excelsior. This is the finest company of raw recruits which has come to this city during the war. The men are nearly all of a size, stalwart, healthy, good-looking and as tough as bears. The 1st Lieutenant is A. M. Keesley, of Sabula, and A.L. Alexander is 2d Lieutenant. Some of the officers, we learn, have some service, and are perfectly competent to drill this company into good soldiers immediately.
This makes the third company which has arrived for Col. Vandever’s regiment. The fourth one will arrive on Friday from Waverly, and the fifth, we learn, is nearly ready at Independence. These with the Dubuque Light Guard, Captain Alf. Thomas, (now nearly full) will make more than one half of the regiment.
