Iowa News
Dubuque, Iowa
August 18, 1840

The present number finishes the third volume of the “Iowa News.” Since the commencement of the publicant, by Judge King, in 1836, the paper has passed through several hands, but has always supported the principles of the Great Democratic Republican Party of the United States as defined in the Virginia doctrines of 1798, and now carried out by the administration of Mr. Van Buren. We shall continue to pursue our course steadily, and disseminate as far as possible such information in regard to the condition of our young and growing Territory as may be useful as well to our own citizens, as to strangers who wish to immigrate. We feel ourselves under many obligations to our subscribers for their support thus far, and hope, by a strict adherence to the cash system to be able to give them many more volumes of the “News” before we sever our connection.
