For 35 years, Dr. Joseph Truman Lambert practiced as a successful physician and surgeon in Farley. He graduated medical school in 1870 from Bellevue Medical College in New York. That same year brought himself west-first to Epworth for a short time, then to Farley. Dr. Lambert was active in his craft until 1907 when his own health failed forcing him to retire because of heart trouble.

T. J. Lambert was born November 1847 in Ithaca, New York. His first wife, Alice E., was born in New York about 1850. Alice died June 30, 1876 and was buried in Fairview Cemetery. Alice and J. T. buried a son and daughter in the Farley cemetery.
Dr. Lambert married again on January 17, 1878, to Sadie Carpenter. Sarah (Sadie) was the daughter of L. W. Carpenter of Farley. She died of consumption on November 29 1882 and was buried at Fairview. Dr. Lambert, himself, died after a long illness on March 26, 1908. His burial was by his family.

He came west to Iowa in 1870. He established a good practice in Farley. Lambert was the local surgeon to the Illinois Central RR. He was a Mason and the order of United Woodsman. He was the town health physician for many years.
