Leonard Loeffelholtz 1845-1922

Leonard Loeffelholtz was born in Germany in October 4, 1845. He immigrated to this country in 1861. Leonard lived for a while in Farley, but removed to Delaware Co., where he ran a general store for 16 years. Mr. Loeffelholtz then sold out, returning to Farley. He bought O’Connell Bros. Saloon and Billiard Hall in 1891. In May of 1895, Mr. Loeffelholtz held the grand opening of his dry goods and notion store which he operated with the assistance of his daughters. He had three children: Sister Mary Rosalie, Mrs. Frank Lawrence and Miss Sophie Loeffelholtz.
About 1900 he moved to Dubuque. Death came while he was living at St. Francis Home in Oct. of 1922. Burial was at Mt. Calvary in Dubuque.
