Leo & Alvina (Schmitt) Kraus

Leo Kraus was born Nov. 7, 1892 in Eagle Center, Iowa, the son of William and Anna (Lardy) Kraus, on Feb. 3, 1920. He married Alvina Schmitt of Holy Cross who was born Nov. 9, 1893 to Nicholas and Anna Pfohl Schmitt. After their marriage, Leo and Alvina moved to Farley. He was a mechanic and welder. Leo was a WWI veteran and served as the mayor of Farley. Leo died at the age of 65 on May 13, 1958. Alvina died at the age of 94 on March 3, 1988. They had three sons and four daughters: Dr. Ralph; William; James; Doris (Mrs. Ken Kemp); Melita (Mrs. John O’Neill); Mary (Mrs. Carl Westemeyer); Irene (Mrs. Larry Scherrman).
