Nelson B. King was born Nov. 8, 1848. He grew up in Farley learning the blacksmith trade from his father Frank. Nelson began business in Farley as a blacksmith and shoe repairer. By 1899 his shop had increased in business and Nelson shared the rear of his shop with W. W. Haller, a wheel-right and wagon maker. On Feb. 13, 1872, Nelson married Adaline Dickinson from Pennsylvania. They had three children: Nelson, born 1873; Anna J., born 1877; and Elizabeth A. born, 1878.
