Benjamin Arquitt was born July 6th, 1848 in Syracuse, New York of French-Canadian family. His parents were Joseph and Mary (Dinney) Arquitt. He came west with his parents when he was 6 years old. He was educated in Dubuque and when old enough he learned the stonecutting trade from his father. In 1870 he married Bridget Murphy daughter of Felix and Ann (Ryan) Murphy.

She was also a native of New York. To this union six children were born: Clara Underwood, Agnes, Callahan, Gertrude, Charles, Noel and Winnie.

Benjamin was a Catholic and a member of Albert Lodge #204, KP of Farley.

Around 1870, Ben and his father purchased the quarry at North Farley owned by Mason, Douglas and Brown. He worked it until he retired. He died Jan. 28, 1933. His wife Bridget preceded him in death. They are buried at St. Joseph Cemetery.

His will states: to his daughter Gertrude and Winifred he left the home and all its contents, lot 380, Farley Junction, now the home of Larry and Irene Scherrman at 208 1st. Ave. S.E.

Noel Arquitt was a meat cutter and had a butcher shop in Farley for many years.
