Jesse Hogan was one of six children born to Willis & Pamelita Hogan. Jesse was a prominent farmer living east of town. He held offices of secretary and treasurer of the Dubuque County Farmer Mutual Insurance Association. After a brief illness, he died in November 1929. Jesse was born October 15th, 1850 and had married twice. His first marriage was to Lucy Higgs, who died Jan. 18, 1881 of “congestion of the brain”, she was only 28. Jesse’s second wife was Delia Clark. Delia died in March of 1947. They had one daughter, Marie Reed. Jesse was the last Hogan to own land in section 8, which he sold in the 1940’s.
