Dubuque Daily Times, Friday, Dec 31, 1875, Dubuque, IA, Page: 7

With the close of the year, Mrs. Sarah G. Van Pelt closes her engagement as city editor of the Herald, a position which she has filed for the past two years to the entire satisfaction of the proprietors and patrons of the paper. We are sure that we but reflect the sentiments of a very large majority of the people in Dubuque when we say that Mrs. Van Pelt is deserving of great credit for her energy and her true womanly devotion to the duties and requirements of the position she is about to vacate. The morning Herald under her administration, has been eagerly looked for, and the page under her control has always been newsy, spicy, and decidedly interesting. The TIMES cherishes a hope that her lines may always cast in pleasant places. Her successor is Mr. Robert V. Shurley, who has been connected with the Herald for some time, and has the reputation of being a vigorous and successful chaser of items. Hail and farewell.
