The J. S. De Lux, originally named the Quincy, was built in Dubuque’s Diamond Jo Boat Yard in 1896. The vessel was converted into a deluxe “excursion” in 1919 by Streckfus Steamers Inc. and renamed the “J. S.” in honor of John Streckfus. The boat was dismantled in St. Louis during the winter of 1938-39.
