Biography of Jacob Breitbach
Failing eyesight forced Jacob to retire from the General Store and Justice of the Peace job. Jacob transferred his Lattnerville business to his son Joseph Breitbach in 1902, and returned home to Jefferson Township near Balltown to live with his daughter, Mrs. William [Maria Josephina] Link. For the two years preceding his death, Jacob was totally blind. Jacob died Dec. 3, 1908. He is buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Balltown.

The property was purchased by Jacob and Philomena (Sigwarth) Breitbach in 1854 from John and Juliette Ball. William and Maria Josephina (Breitbach) Link later owned the farm
