Biography of Ludwig Sigwarth

After almost one year in the original log cabin, it appears Ludwig and family moved to a better home and a farm of 80 acres over towards Rickardsville. [Section 12 of Concord Township] in 1866 Ludwig Sigwart bought 240 acres [in Sec. 12] which was less than a mile away from their home at the time. Ludwig’s sons Louis and John in time bought the farm from their father.

Ludwig and Dorothea spent their last days in the Dubuque area. Ludwig died in 1881, Dorothea in 1893. An error on Ludwig’s gravestone reads 1887 instead of 1881. They are buried in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Sherrill, Iowa.
