Harry Pence, a lineman in the employ of the Star Electric Company, had a narrow escape from death yesterday. As it was he received injuries which render his condition extremely critical.

While at work on the cross arms of a pole on Windsor Avenue he had occasion to use a broad axe. In making a stroke the axe hit a wire, and glancing off struck him on the head. He managed to climb down the pole, but when he reached the ground he fell insensible. He was taken to a doctor’s office where it was found that he had sustained a fracture of the skull above the left ear. The surgeon found it necessary to remove a small piece of the skull. The result of the injuries is doubtful. He is married and with his wife boards ion Iowa Street above Fourth.
