Just as Squire Carney was preparing to retire last night, a young couple called at his home and requested that they be made one according to the laws of the State of Iowa. The young people were shown into the parlor as soon as the squire completed making a hurried toilet, he repeated the words that joined the couple for better or for worse. The marriage license shows the name of the couple to be Henry Lucas and Margaret Steffen. Both are residents of the Fifth Ward and are well known throughout the city.
