P. F. Walker was born in Dummerston, Windham Co., Vermont, June 4, 1826. Pliny’s wife, Lucretia Walker was born the same year in Dummerston. The couple married in Sept. of 1855 leaving the East for the city of Dubuque that year. Residing in Dubuque for six years the Walkers came to Farley in 1861 to begin a mercantile business. The partnership of P. F. Walker and his brother A. C. began in 1865. Pliny held offices of County Supervisor; accessor; and school offices, including Board President. He and Mrs. Lucretia M. Walker had four children. Robert A. was the only one of their children who did not pass away while young.
