Dubuque Democratic Herald – July 4, 1865

Military Meeting – At a meeting of the Military Men, resident in this city, held in the Globe Hall last evening, it was resolved to turn out in a body today to join in a celebration of the Fourth. The following gentlemen were chosen officers for the day. Captain-Lieut. Frederick Dettmer, of the 16th Iowa. Lieutenant-John Markle, of the 37th Iowa. Orderly Sergeant- John Bostert, of the 37th. All military men will assemble at the Globe Hall, this morning at 7 ½ o’clock, sharp. Enough arms and equipment for all will be furnished.
