Dubuque Democratic Herald – June 7, 1865

A TRIP THROUGH THE COUNTRY – At Cascade we spent a day in looking through the Maquoketa Paper Mills, Mullally & McNulty, proprietors, which is now in full blast and turning out twelve to 15 hundred pounds of wrapping paper per day. The mill has been overhauled this spring and several important improvements made in the machinery, and is now doing as good work as any mulin in the country, the paper is firm and of superior quality, and can be afforded in Dubuque or at the mill at Chicago prices, thus saving to customers the price of transportation. A new machine has been ordered, and is now on the way, for the manufacture of larger sizes of paper. The demand is greater than can be supplied and the Maquoketa mills are running night and day. Those wishing to procure paper in Dubuque can be supplied. We are informed that Mullally & McNulty intend on making Dubuque their shipping point hereafter. We spent a pleasant day in the country and received hospitable attention which we shall remember with pleasure.
