ALMOST A MURDER IN MOSALEM - A horrid tragedy occurred in Mosalem Township in this county a day or two since. A German named Cranch took offense at another German at a wedding dinner party on account of jocose remark about his name. Cranch, with another, waylaid him on the way home, armed with revolver and knife. They stabbed him severely – cut his hand to pieces while he protected his throat, and left him. They returned in a few hours, and finding him alive, they took him to the nearest home and then left. No vigorous attempt was made to arrest them and they have probably left the county. It is said to be doubtful whether the wounded man will recover. We could not ascertain his name.
