A Pleasant Surprise

Mr. and Mrs. Phil Pier, Jr. were very happily surprised last evening by a party of friends, who called at their residence, Fourth and Iowa Streets, about 8 o’clock in the evening. They brought with them a bountiful supply of good things, and the Coachwhip Band to furnish the music for the dancing, which was indulged in till early morning. Two little twin sisters, Misses Maud and May Taylor, entertained the guests with several pieces of instrumental and vocal selections. They are wonderful little children, and play the violin with greater skill than many much older and more experienced musicians. The evening was well spent, and the merry young ladies and gentlemen present were loath to leave when the clock struck three.
