Dubuque Herald –Jan. 1, 1878

H. Groppe, a grocer in the Fifth Ward, was injured yesterday by his horse running away and turning over the wagon, and throwing him out. The horse was frightened by a bridle about to be put on him in front of Ellwanger Bros.’ harness shop and made a dive around the block bringing it up in a heap in front of Rheman & Denison’s store. Mr. Groppe was taken into N. Eichmann’s store considerably bruised but no bones broken.
