Seriously Hurt in
Accident at Epworth
~
Robert L. Woodhouse, 69, a retired farmer living at Epworth, suffered a serious fracture to his left leg Tuesday morning, when in an effort to rescue a dog which had been struck by a truck, he ran into the path of an automobile driven by H. V. Lippert, Dyersville mortician. The accident occurred in Epworth on Highway 20 shortly before 11 o’clock.

Physicians attending Woodhouse at Finley Hospital said that the extent of his injuries could not be determined until an x-ray examination had been completed. They said his leg had been seriously injured, that his body was badly bruised in many places and that there were indications of internal injuries.

The dog owned by one of Woodhouses’s neighbor, was struck by a truck traveling west through Epworth. Woodhouse, witnesses said, rushed out to get the dog when he heard the animals howl’s, and ran into the path of Lippert’s car which was traveling east.
