As a result of a ballgame Harry Weimer, son of County Auditor Weimer, may lose the sight of his right eye. The young man is now under the care of many physicians, who are doing everything known to science to save the delicate organ.

Young Weimer, and a number of other youths of his own age, were playing baseball Saturday night on Almond Street. Weimer was catching behind the bat and was not protected with a mask. The pitcher was urged to deliver the sphere with all possible speed and the batter striking at it, fouled. The ball passed off the bat and struck young Weimer square in the eye. The organ was smashed and knocked out of its place. Blood beclouded the eye and shut out the light.

The injured young man was taken to a surgeon’s office where applications of ice water were immediately made to remove the blood. Examinations were made to determine whether or not the sight had been completely destroyed and it developed that nothing could be seen. Sunday morning, however, the youth could see some objects but if they were moved he could not distinguish the outlines. Ice is kept on the eye and the attending physician asserts that they will be able to save it.
Young Weimer is 15 years of age and attends St. Joseph’s College.
