Funeral services were held in Estherville at the Sternborg Funeral Home Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Laura Freed, nearly 82 who died Friday morning after only a weeks illness.
Mrs. Freed was the daughter of Crosby and Nancy Warner, pioneer settlers in Iowa and early settlers in the Spirit lake community
The pastor of the Baptist Church conducted the services Sunday and burial was made at Lakeview Cemetery.
Relatives from Spirit Lake attending the service included, Mr. and Mrs. Fred LaDoux, Mrs. Mary Warner, Clyde Warner, Mrs. C.B. Hill, Judson Klein, Mrs. O.W. Webber, Mrs. C.H. Olson and also Mrs. Chas. Springer of Arnolds Park.
The deceased was born February 28, 1862 at Spirit Lake in Dickinson County.
She was united in marriage to Samuel Freed of Grundy Center, May 13, 1882. They had nine children, five daughters and four sons
Mr. Freed and two sons precede her in death; Leonard in infancy and Herman died in June, 1920
Mrs. Freed is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Stella Mae Meek of Austin, Minnesota, Mrs. Paul Dushella of Humboldt, Mrs. James Monroe of Essexville, Michigan. Mrs. E.C. Webber of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Vernon Wertz of Portland and two sons, Perry Freed of Portland and Ernest of Estherville
