Final Rites Monday For Mrs. Von Holdt

Nellie Bergendahl Von Holdt was born Aug. 14, 1904, at Holstein, Iowa, to Henry and Anna Bergendahl. She attended public schools at Ida Grove, Iowa, and Turton, S. D.

She was married to John Von Holdt, Dec. 3, 1924, at Spirit Lake, Iowa. She lived on the farm near Lake Park, Iowa, most of her life. In the year 1960, she and her husband moved to Lake Park, where she resided at the time of her death. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Park.

Mrs. Von Holdt had been ill with cancer the last three years; she received much treatment and the best in medical care. She bore her affliction with much courage and patience, not complaining of her condition but always showing a concern for the welfare of others. Mrs. Von Holdt died Friday, May 21, at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital near Spirit Lake, where she had been taken a few hours earlier. She had reached the age of 60 years, nine months and 7 days.

She is survived by her husband, John, of Lake Park; five brothers, Willie, Charlie and Fred Bergendahl of Lake Park, Eddie Bergendahl of Spencer, and Herb Bergendahl of Westbrook, Minn.; four sisters, Anna, Mrs. William Clausen of Ashton, S. D., Mrs. Ella Von Holdt and Mrs. Dorothy Paxton of Lake Park, and Amanda, Mrs. Reed Ihnen of Conrad, Mont., many other relatives, and friends. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services took place Monday afternoon, May 24, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ray Wiliemssen officiating, interment was in Silver Lake Cemetery. The pallbearers were Sylvester Holle, Ray Gillespie, Frank Schierholt, Charles Denker, William McFarland and Russel Stahly. Mrs. Birney Krebs, soloist, sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. Richard McClain was organist.
