Montgomery, Iowa — A Lake Park man has died after a crash was discovered early on Tuesday morning.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 6:00 AM, their call center received a report of a vehicle partially submerged in water in the 1100-block of 190th Avenue, north of Montgomery in Diamond Lake Township.

After deputies determined the owner of the vehicle was not at home, a search was conducted in the waters around the vehicle where rescuers discovered the body of 65-year-old Dale Peters of Lake Park deceased near the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says it is believed that Peters lost control of his vehicle on the gravel road and it entered the west ditch and rolled once. The vehicle, a gray 2004 Jeep Cherokee owned by Peters, was a total loss.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says the Lake Park Rescue crew, Lake Park Fire Department, the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Dive Team, Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance crew, the Iowa State Patrol, Dickinson County Emergency Management, and the Dickinson County Communications Center assisted them with the incident.

They say the accident remains under investigation.
