John Winter was born in Germany October 13, 1836. Died in Beaver City, Furnas county, Nebraska Oct. 13, 1901. Aged 65 years. Emigrated to the United States in 1855 and settled in Northwestern Iowa. Enlisted in the service of his country, in Company I, 7th Iowa Cavalry in 1862 and served 4 years. Was married to Miss Regenia Lantz, in March, 1861, of this union were born four sons and two daughters, they were all present at the funeral. He emigrated to Furnas county, Nebraska in 1881 and settled 5 miles east of Beaver City, where he lived until he moved to Beaver City 4 years ago. He was a member of the Lutheran church and was an honest, upstanding citizen and was loved and respected by all who knew him. For the last two years he has been a patient sufferer from disease which terminated his earthly life. He died as he lived, a christian man. Funeral services at his residence were conducted by Rev. T. N. Hinson assisted by Rev. Miller, of the Presbyterian church. His remains were interred in the Beaver City cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
