Maude Baker, 101
Maude Taylor Baker passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2000 at the Hilltop Care Center. Services were held at Turner Funeral Home on Nov. 29 with the Rev. James Stiles officiating. Pall bearers were Larry Coleman, Mark Coleman, Ron Coleman, Roy Coleman, Bill Kramme and Shad Seufert. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
Maude Baker was born March 1, 1899 near Prairie City, daughter of Benten and Sabrina (Perryman) Taylor. She was raised and educated in Prairie City. Maude married John T. Baker on March 6, 1918 in Woodward. They made their home and farmed in Woodward. Upon retirement in 1955, they moved to Spirit Lake. Mrs. Baker worked at the Spirit Lake Library from 1955 until 1970. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Perry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1989, and a daughter Marjorie Titterington.
Surviving are three daughters: Deloras Gilmore of Spirit Lake, Ruth Coleman of Donna, Texas, and Bonnie Bushaw of Ogden, Utah, son John Baker, III of Madison, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
