Former Resident Dies; Final Rites Conducted Here
Funeral services took place Thursday, July 9, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park for Joseph Jayson Sproessig, The Rev. Ray Willemssen was the officiating minister.
Joseph Jayson Sproessig was born July 27, 1881, in Oelwein, Iowa, to Adam and Eliza Sproessig. He died in New Richmond, Wis., July 6, 1964. Mr. Sproessig was married Feb. 5, 1909, to Anna E. Lenz. To this union three children were born: Mary (Mrs. Henry Frodette) of Weyerhauser, Wis., Elizabeth (Mrs. Herman Von Holdt) of Lake Park, and Alice (Mrs. Beryl Dilley) of St. Croix Falls, Wis.
The Sproessigs made their home on a farm near Lake Park for several years. Then they moved to Princeton, Minn., where they lived for 10 years. Mrs. Sproessig died in 1924. Several years later Mr. Sproessig moved to Wisconsin where he made his home.
He is survived by his three daughters; one brother, Charles Sproessig of Princeton, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and other relatives. One grandson also preceded him in death.
At the final rites Mrs. Birney Krebs sang "The Ivory Palaces" and "Beyond the Sunset." She was accompanied on the organ by Denise Hemningson. Pallbearer were his nephews Milo Lenz, Arlo Lenz, James Lenz, Cecil Zahren, Robert Sproessig and Richard Sproessig. Burial was in the Westport Township Cemetery. The Parks Funeral Home of Centuria, Wis., and the Leyson Funeral Home of Lake Park were In charge of arrangements.
Relatives attending from away were from Weyerhauser, Wis., Princeton, Minn., and Arnolds Park, Milford and Spirit Lake, Iowa.
