Obituary in Spirit Lake Beacon, 11 May 1939:

MRS. A. G. ASH PASSED AWAY SATURDAY MORNING

Mrs. A. G. Ash was taken by death early Saturday morning. She had been in apparent good health Friday night when she retired and it is thought that she passed away sometime around two o'clock from heart trouble.

She was always a loving wife and mother, giving of herself and time and making many sacrifices for her children. It might be said of Mrs. Ash, "her life was full of deeds of love, and some the world will never know; but are known by those above, and Christ who sees all here below."

Adeline E. Ash, daughter of August C. and Caroline Frances Below was born near Berlin, Germany, February 16, 1875, and passed away suddenly at her home east of Spirit Lake on May 6, 1939, at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 19 days.

When a year old she came with her parents to Grundy county, Iowa, where she lived until 1879 when they moved to Hardin county, Iowa. In 1882 she came to Dickinson county to what is known as the Old Below Farm, living there until her marriage to Archer Grant Ash on March 1, 1893. To this union were born one son, Archer Bert and one daughter, Mrs. Leafie Sharp, both of Spirit Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Ash began housekeeping on a farm near Superior and 24 years ago moved to her present farm home. Her husband preceded her in death three years ago.

Besides her two children she leaves to mourn her passing four grandchildren; Esther, Lloyd, Dorothy and Carolyn Sharp; six sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Emma Hodge of Terril, Mrs. Tena Halverson of Rochester, Wash., Mrs. Albert Dowden of Marysville, Mo., Mrs. Alma Bugbee of Duncombe, Mrs. Chas. Pickering of Sanish, N. D., Mrs. Floyd Wallace of Fairfield, Fred Below of Terril and Wm. Below of Oak Park, Ill.

Mrs. Ash joined the Methodist church at Superior, later transferring to Spirit Lake.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Ash home. Rev. Roy H. Cox of the local Methodist church, was in charge. Burial was made beside her husband in the Superior cemetery.

Relatives from away here for the last rites were Mrs. Ash's sister, Mrs. Albert Dowden and Mr. Dowden and their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thompson of Marysville, Mo.
