Iowa Beard Family

BEARD, RONALDSON, JENKINS

Hello. My great-great-grandfather was Hiram Beard, father of Hiram Edgar "Ed" Beard (father of my grandmother, Edythe E. Gerdes). Hiram was born on 14 June, 1825 in either Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio, or German Township, Montgomery County, Ohio (I've seen both places listed for him on genealogy sites).
Per family notations, he died on 20 May 1881 in Burlington, Des Moines, Iowa, United States and is buried in Burlington.
I have been searching for his parents for what feels like years. Leads I've been able to get suggest his father was born in Pennsylvania. Any more leads/info is greatly appreciated.
