The Burlington Hawkeye Gazette on January 22, 1960 merely states that Mrs. Mary Sheppard Anderson died Wednesday and the burial will be in the Kossuth Cemetery in Mediapolis. Wednesday would thus be January 20, 1960 for the date of death.

Mary was born on March 29, 1885 in Henry County, Iowa. Her mother, Julia McKune is enumerated with her parents, John and Charlotte McKune in the 1885 state census for Jefferson, Henry County, Iowa on January 1, 1885 which is almost three months prior to Mary's birth. No Weed families in Henry county in 1885.

Julia Ann McKune [born 1869 in Michigan] is married to Daniel Shepherd on July 4, 1890 in Washington, Washington, Iowa approximately five years after Mary's birth.
