Hi there!

I am excited to hear from you. I have already read your paper on Archibald Patterson and Anna Weir and found it to be quite interesting. My name is William Patterson and John W. Patterson was my 3rd great grandfather. Although there are discrepancies among his birth place on the many censuses, I have seen it most often listed as Penn. and Maryland. As far as the "W" standing for Weir, I believe I found that connection on ancestry.com connected to Christian Wenger of 1727 by R.A.Wenger Sr. There is a book entitled the Wenger Book and page listing as well of p.275. The connection to Wenger was through John W. Patterson's second wife Francie Reife of Lancaster,P.A. I am not sure of anything else regarding John W. Patterson. Some say he died on Aug. 20 1865 but I have found no information regarding his death or burial. His last known place of residence is Monticello Minnesota in 1865., I realize there is a lot of false info on ancestry and other websites and I would love to find out the truth, even if that means that Weir is not his middle name. Please get back to me soon.
