Death date for John Phifer

Arabelle Horton married John Phifer 7-4-1867 near Montrose in Lee county. Sometime before 1895 they moved to Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. Their daughter Armina Laura, (Minnie) married Charles T. Howell about 1893, possibly in Burlington. The 1900 census for Burlington shows Belle Phifer 53 living with her son in-law Charles T. Howell and daughter Minnie L.Howell. It states Belle is a widow. John Phifer was on the 1895 census so he must have died between then and 1900. Belle Horton Phifer had two other children William A. Phifer and Emma Phifer living in Burlington at that time. Has anyone run across a death notice for John Phifer in Burlington research? Thank you.
