Witmerhaus, Vitmerhaus, Wittenhouse and all variations

VITMERHAUS, WITMERHAUS, WITMERSHAUS, WITTENHOUSE, WITMANHOUSE, ET AL

I am looking for information about relatives to Diedrich Witmerhaus, b. 17 Feb 1820, in Hanover, Germany. He married Sophia (maiden name possibly Warfaman) and had a daughter of the same name. This daughter, Sophia, married Henry Holman and later married Gustav Adolph Hueholt. I have some info on the descendants but nothing much on the ancestors in Germany/Prussia.

The family is generally found in Pleasant Grove Twp., Des Moines Co., Iowa.

The family name has many spellings, from Wittenhouse to Vitmerhaus to even Watmashaus, and everything in between. I would love to hear from anyone who has descendants or ancestors in this family.
