Richard Pohl Sr.

Richard Pohl Sr., 87, of 1113 S. Leebrick St., died at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 1993, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born June 8, 1905, at Sembach, Germany, he was the son of Mathias and Wilhelmina Pohl. He married Edna Rose Nicholas June 15, 1929, in Burlington.

He was a graduate of a Machinist Trade School in Germany. He came to the United States in 1925 at the age of 19. He was an upholsterer in Burn, Ind., then in Donnellson. He moved to Burlington, where he was a tool and die mafker for Burlington Instrument Co., I.R.C. and General Electric for 25 years. He retired in 1970 but continued doing upholstery work for his son, Robert, until he was 76. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robet Pohl of Westminster, Colo., and Frederick Pohl of Burlington; one daughter, Maryann Schmitz of Burlington; 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, six brothers and two sisters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel.

The funeral for Mr. Pohl will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Norm Wenig officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Bible Banks Mission, Assembly of God Church.
