Everett Pogemiller

Everett P. Pogemiller, 85, of Route 2, New London, died at 6:10 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 1992, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born Sept. 17, 1906, in Pleasant Grove, he was the son of Frederick W. and Maude Bolick Pogemiller. He married Vera Mae Miller May 16, 1939, in Mediapolis. She died Feb. 18, 1989.

He was a farmer, a guard at the Iowa Ordnance Plant, a brakeman for the C.B. & Q. Railroad and a painter, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Yarmouth Community United Church of Christ, Progress Lodge No. 226 A.F. & A.M., White Star Chapter No. 388 Order of Eastern Star at Mediapolis, and the Palestine Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem N. 11 of Burlington and has served as trustee of the Pleasant Grove Township.

Survivors include one son, Gerald Pogemiller of Joliet, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy Mauthe of West Burlington, and Rachel Gladman and Grace Bock, both of Burlington; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lunning Chapel where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. followed by visitation.

The funeral for Mr. Pogemiller will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with the Revs. Leah Pogemiller, W.O. Talley and Ed Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Yarmouth Community United Church of Christ, the Progress Lodge No. 226, and White Star No. 388.
