Mr. Kenneth Donald Massner, 85, of Burlington died at 6:40 a.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born March 25, 1925 in Hancock, Minnesota, he was the son of Adolph E. and Rose Catherine Reber Massner. On February 20, 1953 he married Rose Anne Vincze in Burlington.
Mr. Massner was a Huron High School graduate. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from 1943-1946, and attended Texas Tech University.
Mr. Massner was a farmer until 1963. He then became a Realtor and retired in 1985. Mr. Massner was a member of Burlington Apostolic Christian Church, Chamber of Commerce and Board of Realtors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports, especially BHS Baseball. He was a "Mr. Fix-It" and was always generous and eager to help others.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Massner of Burlington; one son, Kirk (Caroline) Massner of Burlington; three grandchildren, Kyler, Kody and Kace; seven brothers, Eric (Norma) Massner, Virgil (Barbara) Massner, Adolphus (Bertha) Massner and Lloyd (Mary) Massner all of Mediapolis, Harold (Annette) Massner and Dale (Evelyn) Massner both of Burlington and Allen (Rosemary) Massner of Maywood, Missouri; and two sisters, Rosella (Bill) Obermann and Dorothy (Dick) Taeger both of Burlington.
His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call from noon until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2nd, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Massner will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 3rd, in Burlington Apostolic Christian Church with the Church Ministers officiating. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
