Ann Margaret Siefken, 88, of Burlington, died at 5:15 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born July 25, 1924, in Omaha, NE, she was the daughter of John and Marie Kolovratek Newell. On May 28, 1946, she married Chester J. Siefken in Omaha, Nebraska. He died on May 22, 1995.

Ann was a 1940 graduate of South Omaha High School in Omaha, Nebraska. She completed training at the Airway Meteorological Service School in Kansas. During World War II she was assigned to the U.S. Weather Bureau Station at the Burlington airport where she provided weather forecasting support to the U.S. military and civil aeronautics.

She was a member of SS. John & Paul Catholic Church and was a past member of the church choir.

Survivors include one daughter, Kay (Dave) Eaton of Burlington & Ames; one daughter-in-law, Monica Siefken of Burlington; two grandchildren, Andrea (Paul) Warren of Rockton, IL, and Alaina (Russ) Nelson of Mediapolis; one brother, George Newell of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Marge Morton of Omaha, NE and Barbara Smith of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, John Siefken, two sisters, and two brothers.
