Dorothy Ann Helmick

Dorothy Ann Helmick, 68, of Fairfield, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at home.

A funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

The family will received friends for one hour prior to the time of the funeral.

A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Helmick was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Burlington, the daughter of Walter William and Loise Irene Pugh Warth. She married Wayne Leroy Helmick Sept. 26, 1975, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died Sept. 28, 1998.

Mrs. Helmick was a certified nurse's assistant for 24 years, working at Parkview, Pleasant Manor and five years at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting and baking for her grandchildren.

Survivors include her five children: Tom Helmick of Batavia, Patricia Blakley of Keosauqua, Angie Helmick of Keosauqua, Jenny Jacobs of Columbus Junction and Sarah Saeger of Keosauqua; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Hesseltime of Burlington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings, Marvin, Donald, Melvin, Earl, Roger, Ruby and Mary; and one great-grandchild.
