Morning Sun (IA) -- Elmer E. Bazel, 82, retired farmer, died at his home here Wednesday at 7 a.m., following a stroke of paralysis suffered Sunday evening.
He was the son of William A. and Elizabeth Reiter (Bazel) and was born October 10, 1862, on a farm near Burlington. His father died when he was small. On June 17, 1866 [sic: 1886], he married Christina Walker, who survives.
In addition there are five daughters, Mrs. May Blanck, New London; Mrs. Exie Pontzius, Mrs. Alma Dickson, and Mrs. Gladys Pogemiller, of Morning Sun; Ida, at home; a son, Wyman, near here. Two daughters, Leila and Mrs. Bertha McElhinney, and a son, William, a veteran of World War I, are dead. There are 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the local Methodist Church Friday at 2:30 p.m., with Reverend R. Vernon Pike in charge. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pierce funeral home is in charge.
