Harry G. Schrader

Harry Glenn Schrader, 83, of rural Burlington, died at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born June 6, 1934 in Wever, he was the son of Glenn and Nora Brandt Schrader. On April 23, 1960, he married Joyce Elaine Walker in Nashua.
Mr. Schrader farmed for 46 years, starting in 1957.

He was a 1951 graduate of Huron High School.

He was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was a member of Farm Bureau, drainage district, and the Eagles Lodge.

He loved card games, John Deere tractors, tinkering in his shop, cracking nuts, salvaging and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Sheila Keltner of Wapello; one son, Craig Schrader of Story City; four grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, three brothers and one sister.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel.

The funeral for Mr. Schrader will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Tom Zeleny and Earlene Lekwa officiating. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Kingston United Methodist Church, Great River Hospice House and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
