ROBERTA MAY POPP

Roberta May Popp, 82, of Burlington, IA died at GRMC Intensive Care Unit, West Burlington, IA on Wednesday morning, October 26, 2011.

Born on Jan. 19, 1929 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Moses W. and Ethel Platte Robinson. She married Joseph Charles Popp on Feb. 19, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa.

Roberta was a homemaker and also worked at Hardees for 33 years. She enjoyed boating on the Mississippi, cooking for family gatherings and league bowling in Burlington. She also liked to read, solve puzzles and spend time with family. She was a member of SS, John & Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three sons, Joseph Robert Popp of Burlington, IA, Timothy W. Popp of San Diego, CA and Thomas Michael Popp of Burlington, IA; two daughters, Christine Roasa of Phoenix, AZ and Juliana (Gregory) Watson of Ft. Madison, IA; 5 grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, Kristyn, Michael and Heather; one great-grandson; one brother, Alan Robinson of Florida Keys, FL; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patricia Sharp; one grandson, Christopher Sharp; one brother, Wallace Robinson and one sister, Phoebe Hull.

A Funeral Mass for Roberta May Popp will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Burlington, Iowa. Celebrant will be Fr. Bruce DeRammelaere. Special music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir under the direction of Diane Mahoney.

Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.

Friends may call at Prugh's Chapel on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday with the family receiving friends from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established for St. Vincent De Palul Food Pantry.
