Mary Virginia Talbott

Mary Virginia Gabeline Talbott, 95, of Mt. Union, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Henry County Health Center, Park Place.

Born on June 25, 1921 in Yarmouth, Iowa, on her 150 year old family farm, she was the daughter of Forest and Hattie (Oberman) Gabeline. On October 30, 1940, when she was 19 years old, she married Leo Talbott in Yarmouth. They were long time members of New London United Methodist Church.

Virginia, along with her husband Leo lived all her life on the family farm. She worked in the field for over 40 years. She loved to mow the lawn. Virginia and Leo were the 1980 Farm Bureau Outstanding Couple of the year. In 1981, they received the Robert Stevens Award and later the Bob Goslin Memorial Award.

Virginia is survived by her two sons, Jerry (June) Talbott and Richard (Mary) Talbott; five granddaughters; one grandson; 20 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Memorials have been established for the Iowa Central Hospice, New London United Methodist Church or to the Trinity Cemetery Association.
