Arthur G. Oetken, 78, 2005 Highland Ave., died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Memorial hospital after a brief illness.

The owner and operator of Oetken's Refrigeration Sales and Service, he was born June 9, 1892, in Burlington, the son of Dietrich and Wilhelmina Bethke Oetken. He married Irma Schwerin Feb. 12, 1918, in Burlington, and after her death in 1932 he married Lillian E. Kahle Aug. 25, 1935, in Burlington.

Mr. Oetken was a Silver Staf winner in World War I where he served in the Army, was a member of American Legion, Patriot Lodge, St. Omer Commandery, Royal and Select Master, Royal Arch Masons, Davenport Consistory, Order of Eastern Star, UCT, and a former chairman of the board of trustees and former deacon of Oak Street Baptist church.

Surviving: The wife; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Wilma) Bertram, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Ed Otto, Burlington rural; a brother, Edward, Burlington; and three grandchildren.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday, Oak Street Baptist church, Rev. John Ziegler; Aspen Grove cemetery. Masonic service, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Prugh's Chapel. A memorial has been established at Oak Street church.
