Roy Cutler Smith, 82, of 723 Avenue E in Fort Madison, was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, on December 3, 1880. He died on March 11, 1963, in Burlington Hospital in Burlington.

His funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on March 13, 1963, at Prugh Chapel, with Rev. E. William Strauser of Christ Episcopal Church officiating. Burial was in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

Roy was the son of George and Arabella (Cutler) Smith. He married Alma Unterkircher in Burlington on November 4, 1908.

He was survived by his wife, their daughter Molly Lee of Burlington, and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Roy operated the Unterkircher Funeral Home in Burlington until it was sold in 1940. He then was associated with the Neiter Funeral Home in Fort Madison, and later served as bailiff of the Lee County District Court. For many years he was the secretary of the Iowa State Funeral Directors Association. He was of the Episcopal faith.
