Russell H. Dean, 88, of Falls Church, Virginia, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at his home.

Born September 14, 1915, southeast of Kingston, he was the son of Willard and Nellie Hohmbraker Dean.

Mr. Dean worked at the Pentagon for a number of years before retiring.

He completed eight grades at the Kingston School and was a 1934 graduate of Mount Union High School. He was a World War II Army veteran and belonged to the Masons. His hobby was collecting and repairing old clocks and watches.

Survivors include his wife; one sister, Mildred Pilling of Wapello; one niece, Annette Welt of Burlington; and a number of cousins.

Besides his first wife, Emma, he was preceded in death by his parents.

The body has been cremated.
